OLBOF – Engineering Driven by Experience
After nearly two VALUABLE years at BOLD SPAIN, where I had the pleasure of working with a great team on ambitious projects, I decided to return to Poland. This was a return to the idea of independent work – a vision I had even before I moved abroad.
The period following my return has been incredibly intense. I have spent all my time not only on ongoing automotive CAD projects but, above all, on building my own business. Although OLBOF has been operating and delivering projects since January, it is only now that the progress allows me to officially announce the start of my own company.
It was not an easy decision, as my time at BOLD was immensely rewarding, but I chose to build my own brand – OLBOF!
The Problem in the Industry
My journey in the automotive sector began with one of the industry leaders – a premium brand with a massive heritage. Even without much experience back then, I was shocked by the lack of procedures and organization. My friends and I often asked: “How can this company still exist?”.
To be honest, with every next project, it was getting worse. Looking back, that first company was actually the best-organized one I’ve ever worked for. The same problems keep happening in the industry:
- Decision Paralysis: Meetings with 40-50 people for 2 hours that end with no clear results.
- Fake Timelines: Deadlines treated as suggestions rather than strict control points.
- “Improvisation Mode”: Moving to next project phases without analysis results from previous stages. A lack of concepts and working in the dark, hoping it will somehow “work out.”
- Lack of Standards: An absence of clear procedures, meaning every designer worked according to their own, often not-optimal, rules.
I am not referring to automotive startups here, but to brands with a century of experience. Looking at the industry from the inside, you understand why Chinese brands are so competitive and the drastic reduction of Time-to-Market (TTM) is no longer a surprise. OLBOF was founded to provide the standards and consistency that these giants often lack.
Precision Over Luck
OLBOF is the result of 10 years of observing engineering processes – both in dynamic startups and at global automotive leaders. I believe that a good procedure is not “paperwork” – it is a tool that helps engineers be creative and avoid mistakes.
Together with a group of trusted experts I’ve met over the years, we can take full responsibility for a Work Package. We provide support at every stage of the product lifecycle:
- Pre-conceptual Phase: Creating real schedules, procedures, and first technical ideas, and concept sections.
- Design and Development: Delivering full CAD models that follow OEM standards.
- Supervision and Implementation: Ongoing technical support up to the final implementation of the SoP.
We identify risks long before they become real problems. According to industry literature, engineering work is only 5% of the total cost, but the decisions made at this stage decide 70% of the final cost. We are here to make sure every decision is based on deep analysis, not on luck.
